@Hilary1220 You can try the usb-c to headphone jack adapter..some work..some don't. You can also try the NFC tap feature in the POS now that will work with your phone if they have a tap chip. I would recommend to get the contactless reader. You can always manually enter the card, but I don't recommend that. Most cards are chip/dip anyway.
