Reader wont fit my android

I have no port to plug the reader into on my Samsung Galaxy phone. The phone is only a year old.

Hi @L_WRIGHT60.  You probably have the wrong reader for your phone.  Here’s a link to the Square hardware compatibility guide. Just specify your device and you’ll see a screen showing what hardware is and is not compatible with it.

As I see this is your first post welcome to the Square Forum.

As you stated your Android Galaxy is only a Year old which would put it at about a 2022 model.  On my 2020 Galaxy I do not even have a Port for headphones probably like you.  The Free Reader Square offers is one that for Android connects to the Headphone Jack which has been discontinued by Samasung.  This reader reads the magnet stripe on cards.  The other Reader which is not Free reads the Security Chip or the Tap from the Cards.  chip-credit-card-reader-with-nfc  Now as long as you do not need to read a Magnetic card or have one Inserted, you could use the Tap to Pay on Android phones.  Here is more on that in this link : the-bottom-line/selling-anywhere/tap-to-pay-android As Far as I know Square has not developed a new magnetic reader to work with Samsung Type C Charging ports, which is the only Port for the Newer Samsung Devices.
