I'm confused with libraries

I'm starting to create a shop web site. From HOME, I've got to 'online' and set up all my catagories and added a couple of items. All looks good when I try it out.

So, I want to import hundreds of items and put them into the catagories (they are all different Scout badges). I've followed your article to export to a spreadsheet (Home, Items, Actions) and then add what you need to import. I've tested this with an extra 5 items.

So, first issue: The two items I added were there, but not in catagories. So, I went back and added a few catagories to the Items area. Did an import and the extra items did appear there, but did NOT appear on the web site.

So, what did I do wrong? Why do the items I imported not show up? And why do I need two sets of catagories? It almost looks as if there are two separate lists except that the items I manually added did show up on the export.

Help?????

thanks

Alan

With the help from someone on FB from support, the issue is fixed.

The issue was Variations. Apparently, you can't have duplicate variations. I have no idea what they are for (and I don't seem to need them) so for me, the issue is solved.

A some other things that were mentioned:

1. Online -> Setting -> Square Sync - this must be turned on. Also, 'Unavailable' must be turned off.

2. Bulk upload won't import images or categories.

3. What will sync is described here: https://squareup.com/help/gb/en/article/6915-square-online-store-sync

I hope this helps others.

@alansh it's a pain isn't it! But know at least it's not just you 😉

Because they were two different companies (weebly & square) there are bits that they're still working on syncing up perfectly - so some areas do have their quirks! But overall it's a really good system to use & areas are getting better & better!

Personally I do all my item additions in the 'online' side of things as this is the area that actually has more options (for me at least selling food). But it doesn't have the bulk import.

If you do the bulk import on the Square dash (as you've tested) then go over to the online dash & create your categories for online. From there it's pretty simple & fast to select all those badges you want in each (without having to go into each item to amend). You need to give the two systems a bit of time to sync over - you might want to also check the sync settings to make sure it's set how you want.

As categories are handled so differently between online & POS I'm not totally sure if they'll ever sync over - the developer team have done a really good job of making sure we don't loose any features, but does mean this sort of thing crops up!

Thanks, I will wait till tomorrow and see if the items sync up. I really need the bulk upload as I don't have the time to import hundreds of items.

I did do the bulk upload, but when I go over to the online dashboard, the items do not appear. As I said, I will wait to see if they appear overnight, but if not, then this system is not (for me) useable. I have hundreds of badges to import and, if the prices change, it's almost impossble to update each one manually.

Thanks for the update.

I'm gonna just tag @tranguyen as she's a woman in the know on all things - so if there's a way of speeding it up or checking on it she'll know. (She's a 'proper' person from Square so probably not back into the office until the morning)

OK - there's been no overnight synchronisation. So, I am stuck.
