I am new to square!

Hi, I have a new business where we owned a 1967 Volkswagen bus that we have converted into a photo booth and I’m curious to know if square is easiest to use at events or do people tend to like to work more with a Venmo QR code? I want to be able to allow them to leave a tip so I thought square would be the best option. Also, do you recommend to have a scanning strip or a physical box to tap their cards to? Thanks for the help in advance.

Yes, you do have an option to set up a QR code through Square Online. I would take a look at this Support Article with some more information and how to get this setup. Also, you're able to add tipping, if you'd like.

Since you converted a VW Bus to a Mobile Photo stand ( pretty cool idea).  Question for you do you have Power in the VW Bus?   To take credit cards with any processor you would most likely need a Wifi or Cell connection wherever you are.  You would also need power to recharge or keep you processing equipment running.  You could use Tablets or a Square terminal and use their batteries but depending on sales volume etc, you may drain the battery.  The terminal also needs to be connected to Wifi whereas a Tablet can be connected to a Cell Provider.  

My Recommendation if you have some power in your VW Bus would be to get a Square Stand Pos system. 

Here are my reasons:

• Ipad can have a Sim card in it to keep it connected while at different events (No extra Hotspot or using your cell as a hotspot)
• The stand can Tap or Dip cards
• Free Magnetic reader
• You can hook up a compatible scanner (USB or Bluetooth)
• You can also use the Built in Cameras on the Ipad to read Barcodes or QR codes
• You can connect a Cash Drawer and a Receipt printer also
• The Square Stand can also be Mounted to you VW Bus when moving it from location to location

With all this your business looks more professional than having a cell phone or personal Tablet reading credit cards.

I basically use the above mentioned Square Stand setup in my physical store and with Square for Retail I can track inventory also.  The new Stands come with a Built in Dip and Tap feature, plus the ability to get a free Magnetic reader when you buy a stand from Square.

Now if a New Ipad is too much, I bought refurbished ones from Amazon or Ebay that were the correct size for my Square Stands.

As for which application you need, you can decide more by comparing Square Pos and Square for Retail which all work on an Ipad so will work on a Square Stand:
