How can customers order stuff that is not in stock?

I have stock tracking turned on and currently customers can only order items if they are in stock.

It would be really nice if they could order stuff that is not in stock. Is this possible? If so, how?

An additional 'nice to have would be to keep it separate somehow on the invoice so they know it's going to be sent when we receive it.

Is this possible? If not, can it be added as a suggestion for a future upgrade?

cheers

Hey @alansh, thank you for sharing this!

With stock tracking enabled, once the item's stock hit 0, the customer will not be able to place an order from the website at the moment.

I will definitely surface both your suggestions to the appropriate team. In regards to the invoice one, would this be like a reminder to let customers know that items will be send out once they are back in stock or how you'd like this to be communicate to the customers?

I'd just like the invoice to say something like "On back order". And then when we do eventually deliver it, for a subsequent invoice to say "Already delivered" for the items which were originally in stock, so they don't expect the same thing twice.

Does that make sense?

Cheers
