If you want to accept credit card payments in Japan you would need to set up a Square Japan account. Things get complicated between different countries and credit card issuers and payment processors with their rules. It would be awesome if you could just make an account and use it anywhere, but unfortunately that doesn't work.
As JK linked to Square does have services in Japan, just can't use your US one there.
