Hi all,
Hoping someone can help. My items sync to facebook and instagram, but the issue i am having is the listing on facebook seems to be picking a random or the top of the list variation top show on the listing, which doesn’t match the picture in most occasions. I just want it to show the product and not a variation as part of the name. Is this possible? Have uploaded a photo top try and show what i mean. I want the facebook bit just to say garden rose. But when squares syncs it adds one of the variation options: black.
I can edit some of these on facebook but then square will just overwrite them again,.
hopefully someone has an answer.

Yea of course. My website is www.designsbybobby.co.uk my Facebook is
https://m.facebook.com/DesignsByBobby
the problem seems to be when the link from the shop goes over it is copying the first variation option and displaying it as part of the advert. I can change it on Facebook but this will only work on ones that have no variations. One that don’t it seems to be listing as “the item” then regular. Thanks for the help.

I couldn't find anything on my end so I've shared this with our ECOM specialist team and get them to look into it further as well. Once I have an update from the team, I'll be sure to follow up on this thread @DesignsByBobby.

Thanks for bearing with us while we look into this @DesignsByBobby!
From checking with the team, this is due to a limitation with our current sync with Facebook. Right now, the item catalog sync does not support item variation, so we have to sync just on variation. There isn't a way to manually choose which variation to sync over right now but we've flagged this as a feature request to the appropriate Product team so they can look into this further.

I have a similar frustration where items that have variations don't behave well at all. They are grouped like one product (given group ID's, not Content ID's), and a random option (in my case size) is placed as the title of the item on Facebook's Shop. I also cannot select one of the individual items (my sizes) for building sets or forcing how things are displayed in my shop (though I assume that is more of a FB issue).
I do think that the data source file being served up by Square could be the cause of these grouped items and would like Square to investigate. I have disconnected several times to flush the items as I noticed that products I had renamed had no effect (items form a month before would not update that way). Only wholly new items or new variants seemed to sync changes. Observing that, I actually deleted all but the default variant for all my items, reconnected to the shop, and the titles were what I wanted (for me it should be our "Regular" size with the lowest price). As soon as I added back in the actual options/variations back in Square, a sync took place, and each product was grouped, resulting in the main complaint (while some remained "Regular" this time, others changed to "Medium" or "Large"). Please help.

Hi @fieldsofrevery, thank you for sharing this! The variation sync between Facebook Shop and Square is a known limitation and has been raised as a feature request to our team. Right now, variations sync is not supported so only one variation will be pulled over to Facebook. This is done automatically and we don't have a way to manually choose which variation will be sync over right now.
I don't have a timeline for when this will be fully addressed but I'll be sure to update this thread when I know more.

Thanks. One suggestion would be to serve up a group level item that acts as a parent (using that Group ID), which displays the item's true name (like we all have our set in Square, for me that's something like "Sunflower"), and then append to the end of that the min and max of the related variant prices ("Sunflower ($5-$20)"), which is how all of our Square shops work.
