new Square POS design UX

Not sure if this has been started elsewhere but i recently got a new Square Terminal, previously I had been setting up the POS functionality using the phone. When I connected the new terminal, sure enough, my POS Categories showed up fine but after a while the terminal flipped over to the new user experience, what a disaster! I specifically set up the POS UX for non technical users manning the door of a Jazz Club with a simple category dropdown that the user could select, in my case, either a door entry category price list or a membership category price list in order to avoid recurring key entry of fixed amounts. Now, the Library consists of a stack of functions that have no relevance to us, Gift Cards, Rewards, Discounts, even with them all turned off in Settings. Then you get to the Categories section but then it goes on further to show all the items, that is not how POS' work as anyone who has been involved with retail POS applications will tell you. Now let's move on to Favourites. I set up the Categories under Favourites. You select the Favourite and up comes the list of items, fine, but once you have selected that item, it reverts back to Favourites again to repeat the whole process. Whatever happened to staying on the same page and continuing to select more items from the same category, again, in a retail environment, that would not happen.

In summary, a very poor UX and I'd rather keep the old one which was far more end user focused. Yes, you can revert back but now only for a limited time but that's pretty useless to me.

Thanks for sharing your feedback on the new Point of Sale design @gakerma2, and giving specific examples of things that impact your business.

I can't make any guarantees on if these elements will change but I'll pass your feedback on to our team.
