I guess first is there are 100s of bank merchant accounts so there are lots of different options.
The main takeaways with Square to me are:
-true transparent pricing. What you see is what you pay, period. No hidden fees or service fees or monthly fees or PCI compliance fees, or reward card fees, or AMEX higher rates, etc
-Data, data, data. Square is much more than a credit card processor, it is a Point Of Sale system that you can use to see your sales data and customer trends and sales trends.
-No expensive hardware you have to buy like terminals. A Square NFC Chip reader is only $49. The Square POS system runs on iPads which can be reused as iPads if you no longer use Square vs proprietary Registers that serve no purpose once you no longer use that system.
If you have any specific questions please ask.
