Hi @MG10. If you mean identity verification, we sellers have to do this because it is a requirement of the federal government. All credit card processing accounts must have verified business and personal information, per the Patriot Act. This is no different that what you have to do to open a checking or savings account, or to take out a loan. Square is required, by law, to perform this verification and to periodically verify it when conditions warrant. There are no other options if you want to process credit cards.
I hope that explanation helps.

@MG10 ;
Along with what @TheRealChipA said, if you meant verification on different devices is also to verify you have the correct permissions to access your business data. You do not want employees or hackers getting into your Square account, do you?
I have 2 step verification on my Square account to reduce the chance of people accessing sensitive data through Square.

I agree, who wouldn’t use 2 step verification in this day and age. Is it a pain sometimes? Yes, but when it comes to our finances it’s up to us to try and make them as secure as possible. We use 2 step verification on every site or app that we use to access our finances: banking, PayPal…etc. We even have our credit locked with all 3 credit companies to prevent people accessing it to take out fraudulent loans.
