I received an email yesterday welcoming me to Alice. I did not enroll, and neither did my one employee on payroll.
Did Square just auto-enroll everyone with payroll? It sure seems that way, but it's not clear at all if that's the situation.

Hey! Thanks for surfacing this issue. It does not sound like it's behaving normally at all since there is a process to signing up to Alice with our dashboard, which is:
- Sign into the Payroll section of your online Square dashboard.
- Click Benefits > Pre-Tax Spending > Get Started.
- After accepting Alice’s Benefits Document, your employees will receive an invitation to sign up with Alice. Note: Employees need to have an online team member account to be invited to Alice pre-tax benefits.
I would make sure the email wasn't an advertisement first and then contact our Payroll team if you think you have been subscribed as it would be difficult to sign up for Alice through Square on accident.

Well I got an email from Squareup.com which starts "Congrats—you’ve signed up for Alice." I also got a second email from Alice directly which starts "Hey Kyle, Welcome to Alice! You signed up through payroll and we're thrilled you made it."
So it sure seems like I've been signed up. I guess I'll have to call and sort this out. 😡

Wow @Keithppp, you got a much better (more complete) response than I did when I called yesterday. They told me it was something I opted into and that it was my responsibility to opt out. I am more upset about it now than I was after I talked to them.
I guess I'm calling payroll back again. WTF.

Call and ask for a manager in payroll. I got Brian. I threatened to pull all 4 of our stores away (we have very decent volume). This is not ok what they did and shady. He admitted on the phone that there was no button for us to click. It auto subscribed everyone.

Just a warning for any company using square payroll. They now have a policy that allows them to sell your employee information to 3rd parties. Today all of our employees were contacted with an offer that looks like we supported it. I confirmed this with payroll and they claim to have stopped the process. This is a shady business practice and makes me thing twice about storing data with them. Our employees does need to be sold and marketed to. I have screen shots of the emails. We never authorized any apps or promotions.
