Square Reader NOT compatible with Google Pixel 7A

So I;ve been using square magstrip fr 5-6 years with a Google Pixel 3XL phone.    I bought a brand new Pixel 7a phone to find that Square does not support that phone.    Is it too new? or what on earth is going on?    Will they be supporting the 7A soon?    Or do I just take my business elsewhere?   Anyone throw any info on this for me please??

That being said, you can now accept payments directly on your phone with Android phones - learn more here or use the Square Contactless and Chip reader.

Hi - Thanks but it is the Square contactless chip and pin reader that is NOT  compatible with my 2023 Google Pixel 7a phone

Thank you for clarifying, since you mentioned the magstripe reader in your initial post, I wasn't sure whether you'd given the contactless reader a try yet. The Google Pixel 7a is not listed on our compatibility page at the moment. However, since it's an Android phone, you'd still be able to accept payments directly on your phone without a reader.
