So I just got the email that Square Photo Studio is going up. Wow. I already had to leave because of the changes in the appointments and that fee. Now it’s this!
Square took some amazing product shots for me and I made sales. I selected Square because of the price.
I know as a small business owner I have to adapt…again.

You could try taking your own photos!
I use a plain white background, you could get a sheet or heavier material curtain. I use lights (right now just basic ones from Lowe's. Think the kind they use to keep baby chicks warm, just with a daylight bulb instead of red), a table and a backdrop stand.
I purchased the camera+ app for my iPhone, and also use photoshop express. I purchased a graycard from amazon, to make sure my photos are balanced.
my friend who is a photographer will do product photos for me for a few hours each week but they can't always get everything done so then I end up doing my own. I think they turn out pretty well. The background is blown out in photoshop express and we do color correction on the product itself.
Here's a few recent shots.
Maybe you can continue to use Square for a select few things, or give photographing for yourself a try.
I will agree that $19.95 for 3 photos is a lot but I also know that my friend gives me a good deal on her services too.

My business is picking up and I’m trying to build a team even if it’s outsourced. I have done it all for over 5 years.
I think I owe my business and myself the ability to not have to do everything…including photos.
I’m skilled taking photos. Using an iPhone. Using a DSLR. Using GVM lights. Also using Adobe Lightroom. Would I like to pay $9.95 for good product shots and I can talk a walk with my dog, or watch a movie with my teenage soon? Yes!
Thank you for your advice. Have a great day.

I can totally understand that. That's why I hired a photographer to do the bulk of my photos. I don't want to do everything myself after 10 years. I get it.
Maybe you can see if there's a local photographer in your area maybe just starting that you could pay hourly? My friends rate, looking at the most recent batch, was comparable to square's original $9.95 price.
