Say Hello and Introduce Yourself

Hi all our New Sellers here in our Beta Community!

We're so excited to get to know you. Please use this thread as the official place to start, introduce yourself and your fellow Beta Testers.

Don't forget to label your post with your country code and tell us a little bit about your business!

So happy to have you with us!

---------------------------------

I'll go first.

My name is KellyJ. I've worked for Square 6 years, but I have been a Square Seller since 1/1/2011.

I started my little event based flower business out of my basement in 2009, and grew my home based studio into a design boutique in St. Louis, MO. I've had the opportunity to travel the world doing floral design and do some pretty amazing weddings and events over the years as well as be featured in quite a few magazines and publications. I'll still do a few things now and then like weddings of some of our co-community managers, and design contests now and then.

I'm a mom of three high school/college aged kiddos, girl gamer, love tech, sing, poorly play ukulele/guitar, I mentioned I do flowers, St. Louis Blues Hockey is still my everything, will do anything to get to a lake in summer time, and am a 4 times triathlete.

I'm excited to kick off this new Beta Community with you all and really influence what we're doing here at Square. Your feedback and interaction is so important and I'm looking forward to getting to know all your different business and you as people.

Reach out anytime, I'm here for you!

Hey everyone I'm Ashley and I have a landscape and construction business in Pittsburgh Pa. We have been in business since 2018 and have been using square since 2020. My business name is A.R.T. We usually use the Email an Invoice option for payment but sometimes we do use our tap and pay mobile pos machine.

HI!
I run a small pizza shop in Boise. Joining beta programs to hopefully get some features currently missing in the production application of square for restaurants. Scheduling pickup time that sends order to KDS then and not immediately.. Substitute topping shouldn't charge any money, yet it does. No great way to do a half and half pizza. No good way to have different prices for toppings for different sizes of pizza. Maybe some beta software will solve one of these annoyances? Fingers crossed yall.

Hello, I am Ron and I have owned and operated a tiny coffee shop in a small rural town in Georgia. I am retired from the Air Force and am glad to be active in my community by providing great coffee! I have recently expanded to serve pizza and Gelato, so I began to learn more about the square and terminals which led me to the beta section!  I have operated with Square since 2019, and have never been disappointed, indeed I have only been happy and delighted with every aspect of Square.

Howdy! My name is Mel and I'm actually helping my parents get their small business setup online. My family runs an ice cream shop called 48 Flavors in the metro-Detroit area of Michigan (USA). My family has been in the ice cream business since 1981, with our first 40ish years running as a Baskin-Robbins. Last year we decided to split from the franchise and go independent. It's been a little over 1 year since that happened.

What's my role? I moved back home recently to take some time off work and volunteered to setup all things tech-related (DoorDash, Uber Eats, business website, etc. etc.). Currently we are using Clover as our POS, but I've come to Square to evaluate the usability of the entire system as I'll eventually be handing off website/menu management to someone probably less familiar with technology. Square is last on the list of solutions I'm checking out, as I've already checked out Bento Box, Wordpress, GoDaddy, Wix, and a couple of others. I have a background in cybersecurity and computer science so I love tinkering around with things (and breaking them, ha) so the Beta Community is definitely something I'd like to be a part of!

Hello everyone,

My name is Olivia, I am the owner of Olivia Rose Hair and a user of square since 2018.

I have been a licensed cosmetologist in Michigan for 17 years but a business owner for 6.5 years. I grew my startup business with accepting every job opportunity that walked through the door, until I decided to focus and specialize in blondes and balayage. By specializing on a certain target market, I was able to grow my salon to profitable margin, square has been tremendous aid in helping me grow my business.

Outside of the salon, Monday thru Friday I am a working boss mom of 3 kids ranging in ages 3 months to 11 year and a soccer-basketball-karate mom on the weekends. As chaotic as my life is, I truly love both of my lives; work life and mom life.

I am excited to have the opportunity to join this beta community and see what I can learn from everyone.

ABOUT ME

How Did I Get Started

Hello,

My name is Shawn Wilson, I am so glad you are taking a few minutes to get to know me and how I began my journey to becoming a certified sexual health and wellness educator and the #1 representative for a sexual health and wellness company.

One day in 2013, one of my clients came in for her regular nail appointment and asked me if I had heard of a new SEX TOY company and if I would be interested in becoming an educator with them? My initial response was "HELL NO".  I was not about to start selling sex toys...lol,

I had the same unaware and uneducated response that most people give me now.  This client was a partner with a law firm and obviously very convincing, because within that hour, I joined the company and began the first leg of my journey.

In 2 1/2 years, I was ranked the #1 consultant in this company,  Now, I have partnered consultants in 45 states and 2 countries that I train and mentor with their successful businesses.

I began the process of becoming a certified sex and intimacy coach with Dr, Rachael Ross ("The Doctors") and her program. Now, I get to help individuals and couples have greater experiences in and out of the bedroom.  Couples I see learn to build confidence within their personal and collective goals around the TABOO topics of sexuality, sensuality, and connection.

If you are ready to shift the way you think about, experience, and explore sex and sensuality, feel free to connect or join one of my free sex ed game parties.

Yours Truly, with love and light.

Hey @kellyj ,

I am Donnie and I am a multi-unit manager for Roddy Vending Company in Knoxville, TN.  I brought the idea of using square for the point of sale and credit card processor in our downtown cafes at the end of July 2017.  I have watched square grow and add features and think that Square is hands down the most affordable point of sale system that can be the most flexible for food service businesses.  I have a degree in hospitality management and enjoy the cooking side of the business.  Food is a wonderful way to enrich someone's life.  Square has helped me to do that.  We have grown to 4 cafes and 1 grab and go location.

I have always been excited to see square add functionality or make things available.  Some things like single item printing, I used a work around with open tickets by ringing up one item and saving it to a ticket I could do tray tickets and then recall the ticket for 1 person to pay for all the items.  Now that is a simple setting for printers.   I hope to be able to test and help square implement changes to help other restaurant and cafe owners to have flexible tools for their business.  And, I love the tech of the restaurant industry.  I look forward to contributing and being part of the community.

While this business has only been going for the last 8 years I have actually been selling with Square since the beginning back in 2009. It’s been a long and sometimes frustrating journey working with Square during its evolution from the beginning to the point it’s at now. Still using IPad with Square Retail app & Square Stand but debating upgrading to the actual Square Register. I have been beta testing the Square retail app thru Test Flight since that program started so really looking forward to seeing features offered via this program

Hi I'm Michael,

I"m one of the UK's top florists.  I've been self employed since 1996 - before that I worked in high class fruit and veg and before that high end fashion. I started using "Register" in 2015 it was a great app that recorded sales - in the UK anyway - It was what I'd been looking for, since forever, and the fact I could use a legacy iPad, in a wet damp enviromnment and I didn't care if the device was dropped was great.  In 2016 Kristen approached me and I agreed to join the UK preview program - I haven't looked back.  I was part of the ECR program too, which was incredible and since 2016 I could see my business recorded growth - I lost several large clients after the annoucement of Brexit as they moved to France/Germany and Square helped me plan. I seriously didn't think "make 45 bouquets as you are showing 40% growth in 2018 - but I did!  The same in 2019 and 20 pre covid. I made 50 bouquets this Mother's Day, as the country went into lock down and sold them all, literally sold out, to the regulars on my recency.

I've invested a lot of time into the weebly online store, even more than weebly people - at the moment.  I'm here to help if you need non API help in this time of unity and look forward to working or even meeting you if the chance happens.

I will know a few of you through the facebook group as I'm AKA Julian.  I post late - I delete - I share. It's cool to be "Square" x

Hey @kellyj!

Thanks so much for this awesome new Beta Community and for sharing!

My name is Pesso and I own & run Pesso’s Ices & Ice Cream in Queens, New York, USA. I started the business with my dad 15 years ago, and we’ve been running it together ever since.

We make & sell 100+ flavors of Italian Ices, Ice Cream & Gelato right in the back of our little shop.

In 2011 we started up with Square with my old iPod Touch, then a few months later upgraded to an iPad, then two, then three, and then when Register came out, we upgraded to 4 of those. We absolutely love the Register Hardware, especially since we use & love Loyalty!

I also do some Small Business Consulting, love being active, traveling the world with a small backpack, and I’m a massive nerd & movie buff & Disney parks enthusiast.

Looking forward to helping more businesses & helping square build some more amazing things!

Howdy everyone, I'm Peter, and I run The London Tea Room & Merchant in St. Louis, Missouri. We're not actually in London, though that's where my family is from.

We're located just south of Tower Grove Park in a former brewery that dates to the 1880s (back when every brewery was micro, brewing beer just for their neighborhoods). Instead of brewing beer, we brew tea. We have a cafe for folks to come in and sit down with a cup of tea and a pastry, a retail shop selling loose leaf tea and teaware, and a dining room for serving afternoon tea.

My grandparents own the business, and it started in downtown St. Louis in 2007 before moving to its present location in 2014. I've worked for them on and off since I was a kid, starting off with janitorial work at their furniture store, which unfortunately went out of business during the Great Recession. I left the family business to go work at Square for 3 years, and they asked me to come back earlier this year to manage the business. It was good timing for them, as we've only survived due to the online ordering system I built with Weebly just before the pandemic hit.

Aside from work, I'm also getting a master's degree in international affairs. I'm not sure if I have any hobbies or interests anymore besides work and school.

Hi everyone,

Super happy to have this new place.  I'm Leanne, owner of Five Girls Baking in Nova Scotia, Canada.  We have some unique differences with sellers from the USA so looking forward to seeing some great things to support Canadian sellers.  We've been evolving quickly during this pandemic and have gone from a fresh bread bakery and gourmet food shop to also offering locally grown produce and locally sourced meats and produced dairy products to become more of a one stop locally grown/produced food shop.  Offering online ordering with a delivery option has really helped us stay afloat right now and I look forward to being a part of this group!

I'm Ryan at Vines & Rushes Winery located in Ripon, WI.  We're a medium sized winery started in 2012 on my family farm producing wines from 100% Wisconsin grown g**bleep**s in addition to a few hard ciders.  We've expanded our facility 3 times since our original building, adding a bunch of customer facing space for the roughly 200 public and private events that we host every year with lots of music and food based events.  We serve Neapolitan style pizza out of a traditional italian wood-fired brick oven.

Square has been our Point of sale system since day one and we started with a single iPad and one of the original card readers.  We now have two Registers, two Stands and several floating iPads and a bunch of printers.  I've been really happy with the growth of the product and we've really grown many of our offerings in-line with Square growing it's flexibility as a more feature rich and complete system.  I'm excited to see where the product goes in the future and how we all adapt to a changing consumer habit and demand.

Hey hey! I'm Jess and I am the Beta Manager for the UK. I've worked at Square for a little over two years now. I started in our Dublin Customer Success team back in 2018, and recently moved to London to work on our beta programs. I am super excited about the beta community launch and look forward to seeing all of your contributions and feedback over the coming months.

A little about me: I’m obsessed with all things fitness - from yoga to running to weight lifting - and am rarely found staying still. I also love nature, being outside and exploring new places.

Hello. My name is Steve. I own Mountain Vapors in Sonora California. Sonora is up in the Sierra Nevadas near Yosemite National Park.
