Sales Tax: As a tax payer do I calculate sales tax before or after Square takes its fee?

I've removed sale tax from Square, since I will be deducting from sales at different conventions in different cities.

So, as a tax payer, do I calculate sales tax before or after Square takes its fee?

Thanks!

Before. Sales taxes are determined by your dollar amount in sales, not the dollar amount you received after fees are taken out.

Don't forget you can set up multiple sales tax options on the Dashboard. Then for each convention you go to you can enable that specific sales tax for the day, or you can set up multiple locations that use the specific sales tax needed so you're not constantly doing sales tax math. (Good if you're going to be going back to the same locations multiple times!)

Hope this helps!

Thanks! Answers my query!

I don't want to use tax option because I want to keep prices from credit to cash consistent & manageable. Easy $15, $40, etc... so I pay the tax, cuz I'm a nice person.... 😕

👍🏻

Good on you for being a good person! I like the idea of taking care of taxes myself but I suffer from the “ooh shiny” syndrome and I know I’d screw something up....

Edited to add: you can also set your taxes to be inclusive in the price so the final total is exactly as you want it to be. Food for thought...
