If i have an item for 100.00 and i discount it 20% my report at end of day should read that I sold my item for 80.00
I'm told by a Square user that the report will read 100.00 and then i have to take my 20% off of my sales at end of day.
Something sounds wrong about that, please help if you know the answer!!

You've been misinformed. Your day-end sales report will show gross sales, then break out discounts, taxes collected, Square's processing fees, etc. Your transactions reports will show all of your discount, comps, etc so you won't have to do it yourself.
Here's a screen shot of my daily sales report - without the actual figures so you can get an idea of what you'll see:
I hope this helps you.
