New Square Online Store suggestions

Hello! I'm loving the new Square Online Store; however, after playing with it a bit I noticed some quirks. Here are some suggestions I have:

 

- Allow full block texts. The "text" options available now are not practical for pages like FAQ, Shipping/Returns Info, Privacy Policy, CA Prop 65 info, etc. Hopefully, I'm not missing something and didn't glance over a simple text block option.

 

- When looking at the Products page have the arrows for previous/next page and page drop down menu on the top (and bottom).squaresite.jpg 

When I imported all my items it had everything as available. The batch option was really awesome but I had to scroll down to hit Next Page then scroll up to Select All > Unavailable. Since there is a max of 50 items visible, I had to scroll up/down for all 63 pages of my items.

 

- Something I noticed is that I have the same photo ratio for the front page as featured items and it's the same ratio for the category pages; however, when you view the item the photo is "zoomed in" looking.

If you go to mine you can scroll a little to see Featured Items, then click Shop New Arrivals at the top. Those two look the same. But then click on an item, the photo is zoomed in. Is there a way to fix that?

 

The last thing, is there a way to import my items to Facebook? This way I can also have "tap to purchase" on Instagram?

Oh and I just wanted to mention one other thing about importing products to Facebook so you can tag them in Instagram - that hasn't been rolled out but we are working on it! I can't share a specific timeline or provide details here in the Community but keep in touch for more updates!

Update for those with this new Square Online Store looking to add blocks of text:

 

I used the embed code block. It's a workaround, not ideal but it does work. You just have to add a div style to match your font style/size etc.

A few other suggestions:

This has to do the with Square POS but makes a difference for the online store:

Allow us to include SKU/Barcode on receipts.

 

Currently Square doesn't allow us to show SKU or Barcode info so we have to add the SKU to the item name. This allows us to compare what is being returned vs. what the customer bought. In a retail setting, it's very easy to have a lot of "Black Button Up Tops" so our items look like "2151 Black Button Up Top", "2067 Black Button Up Top", etc.

 

Why this matters for Square Online Store? Since our SKU info is in the item name it uses the same name on the website. If you edit out the SKU info it'll then update on the POS. It looks less professional having SKU info in the item name.

NEXT SUGGESTION:

In Product Library all us to sort by what is visible, hidden, or unavailable on our store.

 

I got a notification saying, "There are 3 available items without item descriptions. Items with descriptions are more likely to sell. Add one now" when I clicked the link it led me to my full item library.

 

Here is a suggested layout, I even added the page drop down and arrows from my first suggestion for a full example:

NEXT SUGGESTION:

Allow us to make the navigation menu "static" so its always at the top of the page and/or allow us to have a "TOP" button link on the side of the page.

 

NEXT SUGGESTION:

Footer: Allow us more layouts with additional external link areas or allow us to add additional text boxes.

 

Here's what I did for my footer...it works but it's a bit messy compared to standard retail sites.

And I found a small bug, not sure it is a big deal though:

After adding a title to the Embed Code block and then changing the page color the title will revert back to its default, "Have a look!" title.

 

Thanks for your hard work and I'm really excited about the new Online Store. I can't wait to see how it grows!

How did you format that footer? It looks great. I've been trying to replicate it, but I cannot figure out how you got the bullets and the text to format vertical. Did you do this under the Navigation?

I've shared all of your suggestions with the Weebly team so we can continue to make improvements. When I checked in with the team confirmed that they are already working on updating the navigation menu so it's static/more easily accessed (I'm not sure exactly what it will look like yet) so keep an eye out for that improvement coming soon! 

 

Regarding entering the SKU in the item name — have you tried entering the SKU in the description field? Item descriptions will appear on digital receipts (email and SMS) but not printed receipts. Just a thought! I'll keep an eye out for any other workarounds. 

 

Oh and thanks for flagging this bug! I've escalated this to our Weebly specialists so we can investigate. They might reach out by email if they need any more information.

What about rotating/sliding banners so we can highlight multiple photos on the main page?

 

Thanks for the tip on the receipts. Unfortunately, a lot of our customers still want printed receipts.
