Hi there - I'd recommend taking off the case to try and see if you're able to swipe without the case on. 3rd party headphone jack extenders aren't officially supported by Square, so that could be causing problems.

If you're not able to swipe a card without the case on, then check out this list of troubleshooting tips: https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/5203-square-magstripe-reader-troubleshooting Switching your phone shouldn't make a difference in whether or not the reader works, so perhaps it needs to be cleaned, or needs to be better connected to the phone.

We don't have phone support on the weekends, but we do respond to emails 7 days a week. You're welcome to call our support team tomorrow - they open at 6am Pacific. To do so, you'll need to go to the Contact Us form and make sure you're logged in. Select the product you're having an issue with, and then click the "call us" button to reveal your customer code. Here's the link to the form: https://squareup.com/help/us/en/contact

Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help.

I am thinking that if they do not give me a phone number then they do not want to talk with me and I should switch to another company

Taking the case off of one's phone - is not a wonderful idea at all.

I do not like having to take my case on and off everytime I have to use square - that defeats the whole purpose of having a protective case..right?

These phones can too easlit slip out of your hand and then you have an expensice and unnecessary problem.

SQUARE needs to make an extended plug plain and simple - I have'nt used this thing once and now I am bummed!

@elec55 I get where you're coming from.

It can be especially frustrating for folks who have the heavy duty Otterbox cases.

While we won't be making a plug in reader with an extended jack, our Square Contactless and Chip Card Reader connects via bluetooth, so no need to plug it in or remove your case!

You can purchase one in our Online Shop.
