Discount on Item but not modifier

How do I do discount only specific on the item but not the modifer? 

Seems like when I do discount, all modifer will get discount... 

Also when I set for Buy 1 get 1 free drink, I do not want to comp the modifer item free, how should I do that?

Hello @trttlak! 

Currently, Discounts will apply to the total amount of an item or sale. This includes modifiers. 

I'm not sure if I fully understand the buy 1 get 1 free drink issue you're experiencing. If a customer adds a modifier, they have to pay for the modifier on a free drink?
