Can you combine shipping rates?

Hi, I have created 2 different shipping rates for my products. Is there a way to have a combined rate when multiple items are purchased from both categories instead of having one over priced shipping rate with both fees in.

you could probably try setting a price for shipping over X amount for Y cost option?
