Apple Pay Customer Screen - needs some customization.
For customers that use Apple Pay, the confirmation screen design is a bit obnoxious. They are prompted with a screen that requires not signature, only "do you want to tip". The design is tip heavy compaired to the usual cc signature page. Since they are not required to sign, it feels awkward spinning the screen around just to have the customer decide to tip or not. I would prefer to have the screen mirror the look/layout of the swipe/chip customer signature page. By asking the customer to sign, it gives them a reason to interact without feeling presured to tip. At the least, maybe add a button to "confirm" the purchase with a scaled back tip section. Most will tip, unless they feel like they are being put on the spot. As it stand, many of our regulars use the fact that no signature is required to just walk away and ignore that part of the transaction. Its possible that they are actually moving to use Apple Pay to step away from the tipping.
PS: I'm a big boy and don't need to earn badges to get value from the forum. Actions, not badges. Thanks.

We appreciate the feedback and you make some really good points in regards to tipping!
I can see how the interaction with signatures increases likelihood of tipping and vice versa.
I'll send this feedback over to our Product Team. Hopefully we can improve this soon!

Just following up to see if there has been any more discussion on changing the default tipping screen for Apple Pay. We turn off the "Separate Tipping Screen" option for regular transactions for the same reason. You can see the negitive customer reactions to having a large prompt to tip which is the standard on Apple Pay. I would guess 90% just walk away and leave us to press the "no tip" button on their behalf. This needs to change for the customer and the tipped staff. Keep it the same way as "Separate Tipping Scree" OFF works for regular transactions.

No updates to share at this time, @VCB, but thanks again for your feedback.
We shared a post about the feedback cycle at Square since you've last posted here, and that may be of interest to you.
As outlined there, should any significant changes come to the tipping options, we'll be sure to update this thread.

Okay. FWIW, this same concern applies to a Gift Card transaction. Ideally, we would have the same controls that we have with cash/debit/credit, the option to opt-out of a "separate tip screen".
Thanks.

Copy that, @VCB — thanks again for taking the time to clarify. We'll make sure this gets flagged with our Product Liaison team as well!
