Any wine and/or liquor stores using Square Retail Plus?

We are a wine/liquor store and having a hard time with Square Retail Plus. How are other merchants handling bottle deposit RETURNS? How do you provide a PAYOUT such as $1.50 in bottle returns?

 

We can handle refunds with products people have purchased. But can't find a way to provide a NEGATIVE PAYOUT.

While I'm no Retail Plus expert, I can confirm there isn't an option to provide a negative payout or issue funds to a customer without first selecting an item or transaction to refund.

 

Are you able to confirm how you've set up your bottle deposit in your Item Library?

@Laurie_ Unfortunately, I've been on the phone with SRP support. I've concluded that I am more proficient in the platform than most of support. I've gone thru the technotes, knowledge base, and Reddits, boards, groups, etc.

Usually, if you've contacted our Support Team and have been unable to find the answer or an available workaround, what you are looking for is most likely a feature request that isn't yet supported by the Square Retail product.

Given your understanding of this topic, I highly encourage you to submit this as a feature request. Our Product Team keeps an eye on this forum as they are constantly improving our products based on feedback like this.

We made a discount with an empty amount called bottle returns. That solves the problem for those that buy something and return bottles. It's not perfect because it causes issues with margin reports. Discounting the $10 in empties on a $12 bottle is a perfect example. And it doesn't solve the problem when someone just returns bottle returns.

 

Not sure why this hasn't been added seeing alot of states have bottle returns
