You may be looking specifically for our newly introduced Deposit Feature for Invoices. This will also allow you to create a single invoice to track multiple payments and reduce the amount of time you have to spend reconciling multiple payments (deposit, follow-up payments) to a single transaction or sale.

I edited the invoice.  I registered the payment as a discount and wrote in the discount description payment.

Just reconsidered my previous answer. If you discount the price, it discounts the price. Even if you notate it as a payment. Patiently waiting on a beta update to the system.

I wanted to do the edit invoice and put as discount the partial payment I was given...but it adjusts the tax on the product by lowering the tax due.  anyway to do this and keeping the tax amount the same?

Hopefully it is soon, because I am already doing demos with other invoicing software. Many of your competitors offer this feature, in addition to a private client portal where my customers can log on to make payments. I was very impressed to see the technology these other companies are using for invoicing, and wondering why square is so behind?

Good afternoon!  I would like to be a part of the beta trial for the partial payments for invoices.  As a contractor i request a 25%-50% down payment on my projects.  It would be nice to have the ability to take a these and be able to deduct from the original invoice.

We are a restaurant with catering jobs.  We need the ability to apply a partial payment (down payment) on a saved ticket.  I haven't looked at the invoicing system to see if that would help.  Thanks!
