Hello Seller Community — we were glad to host this Q&A session on March 15 focused on business owners who are looking to take their brand to new heights with Square.

 

Joining us for this discussion was @skhan, a seasoned product manager on the Customers team. With her prior experience in branding and strong seller empathy, Sarah understands the challenges that come with managing branding features, such as adding logos and customizing receipts. Hi I would love to post pictures and videos as descriptions for products and services, as well as the ability for clients to leave personalized video reviews after their appointment. More customizing options for the website. The option to add stylist but also give them the ability change and manage their own schedule would be awesome.

Thanks for the feedback! Staff are able to manage their own schedules as long as they have permission to manage calendars, and can be displayed on the Online Booking Site.

Definitely would like to see better control over our email campaign design!!!  Logos, headers, text changes, and other options are not great.
And the text option... Does not help me at all!!  I would love to be able to customize reminder texts.

Text Marketing:  Half my clients only use or look at their text and I don't have some of their emails to send for opting in!!!  How do you get them to opt in?  Yeah, I guess I can text each person separately. ugghh!! 
If we could send a text to those clients, for them to opt into Square text marketing (not via email first), that would make this a LOT easier to get ahold of clients!!!

In case you aren’t aware, you are able to customize the text of your email communications in the Appointments Dashboard. We hear you on the need to customize text communications and are working on shipping that ability this year.

Hi Sarah, thanks for your reply. I have customized our email reminders and other communications in the dashboard.  I was referring to different text options in marketing emails. i.e. In one box, have more than one text/font option. 

And Text marketing, not the text itself, but the ability to text a client (or multiple) from square to have them opt-in vs only with email.

Perhaps this exists and I just haven't been able to locate the options for it... I do not always sell tangible products. I own a paint party business and need a more streamlined way for people to sign up for classes and choose their options. I'm currently using Square for people to pay, but using a Google form for people to "register" and choose their custom options and upload photos. It would be so much easier to do this in one place with a product I already use rather than have to sign up with yet another company (ie Constant Contact, etc.).

I am making preparations to take my business away from Square completely.  The latest terms change that states that you will charge fees at the edge even when a transaction is canceled / refunded, in whole or in part, is a money grab to go from 2.6% to 5.2% fees.  That is outrageous!

I have been looking at other options as well. I’m rebranding while I’m out for health reasons and really want to come back strong. The fees to equal the benefits. You have to add on so much to run a business smh

My question: is there any chance that Square is building its own all-encompassing loyalty / affiliate / customer referral program that is native to Square POS / Square Online / Square+Weebly Stores?

 

Preferably as the expanded, robust upgrade to the current Square Loyalty solution? If so, would current Square Loyalty Points be unaffected if Square Loyalty were to be built all the way out, (as in it is safe to invest in Square Loyalty now and eventually have the full all-in-one program when the Loyalty upgrade is ready)? 🙂

 

I know I need an all-in-one Loyalty solution soon, as many others have previously stated over the years with their business and business needs.

I love square! I need the web page format to be more flexible for my necessities, I sell figurines and pdf templates, but I have an issue selling the templates in square. When I try to add the pdf template on the web, I do not have options how k like on the web. Also, I agree that the Integration with Stamps.com would be a time saver. I remember that in the past, square offered the review for free, mainly because I have a tiny business, and without reviews, people can think that my web page is a scam web page.

One thing we've done manually, but would be nice to manage, is the ability to include a QR code on the receipts. We used an online generator - not realizing it did a redirect through their site (then after a couple months they wanted money for the link to keep working) Lesson learned - found a real native generator then spliced it in with our logo so folks could jump to a specific page on our website. Or as a footer alongside some text and URL to website, Facebook, Instagram, etc. 

 

Someone mentioned CVS receipts. Would be pretty cool if we had the ability to print a coupon at the bottom of a receipt. I mean sure we can do it generically with text. But the ability to have a section with a solid or dashed border and the ability to include bigger or smaller text sizes. I know this depends on what the receipt printer can do (so might have to be rendered as a logo graphics somehow I guess) - but still would be nice to include a '10% off your next visit (expires x/x/xx)'

 

Would be nice if we could put a background picture under our logo when the customer display is idle. Ultimate would be ability to flip through a couple promotional graphics. 

 

We don't use the online stuff - we're mostly brick/mortar usage, so can't speak to that branding part. 

 

This is probably outside the scope of branding (but if you know who might oversee stuff like this and could Fwd), PLEASE let us remove the Gift Card/Reward/Discount buttons from Library screen. And nirvana would be the ability to include a button SOMEwhere to open the cash drawer, even with a code. So tedious entering code over and over to tap End Drawer then cancel. I know a $0 sale will open it, but that adds useless clutter to the transaction file. And maybe some way to 'cache' the admin code, even for 60 (or configurable up to X) seconds. I find myself having to enter it 3-5 times to do one or two 'let me quick check that' things. REALLY annoying.

Thank you for this opportunity Square! I’d like to speak to the APPOINTMENTS side of things, I’m such an advocate for this platform in the Esthetician/ Spa/ Beauty world because of the ability to customize so much but it’s not perfect and there is room for improvement. The improvements with branding could be the website side of things, editing buttons. The ability to connect buttons to direct services, they’re not being completely different sections but the ability to intertwine the website and the booking system. Branding, email marketing is basic. Text is basic. More options of fonts, sections. I’ve had to tweak things, to fit what I want but if it was already included I wouldn’t have to use other apps so often like Canva. Thanks again, I’ll be attending the discussion LIVE. I can’t wait!

Hello, Tom!

 

I would like the reviews left on my Square by my customers to be shared on all the other platforms where my business is profiled, such as Google or Yelp.

 

Also, the possibility to upload my logo onto my Square terminal and have it featured on all the receipts, whether digital or printed, would be great.

Hi @OrangeDotQuilts - We appreciate you taking the time to share this feedback! We are currently looking into how we can support images better on Square Terminal as well as logo support across all buyer touchpoints (e.g. printed receipts, digital receipts, POS, Terminal, Loyalty, etc). Exploration is still in progress and we do not have a timeline to share, but know that your feedback is timely. The more we hear from sellers about such needs, the better we are able to determine prioritization.

I have been using square for a while now and have repeatedly asked for you all to add an upload image option for websites. I want my customers to be able to add images either during an inquiry or on an item that does not require the use of google docs. This will remove a step for customers having to contact me a secondary time for the same order, ultimately saving time and an extra step. If the image could come through with the order email we receive that would be the best!

Hello everyone and square!

 

I would love to have the ability to use my business email for not only when someone abandoned a cart or a couple others things, but also to be able to use it for email marketing! We really want that feature because it shows our logo in gmail so for us that brings more brand awareness to our customers. Thank you for the opportunity to share my thoughts.
