I'm trying to see how much each person spends in a given month so that I can use the information to put together a square subscription for my customers to have unlimited drinks. There's no way I know to do this otherwise.

Thanks for reaching out @Mochanutcoffee. This is a great question!
To see how much your customers spend with you on a monthly or yearly basis, we recommend using Square's transaction search feature. This tool allows you to filter transactions by both the date range and the specific customer, giving you the ability to view and download a customer's purchase history for any time period you select.
To view and export this information:
- Sign in to your online Square Dashboard and navigate to Reports > Transactions.
- Use the Date Range filter to select the desired time period. You can choose specific start and end dates or opt for preset date ranges to view transactions for a single day, week, month, or year.
- Click on the 'Card #' filter and switch it to 'Customer'.
- Type in your customer's name exactly as it appears in their Customer Profile.
- A list of transactions for that customer within your chosen date range will be displayed.
- Click the Export button to save the .csv file.
With the exported .csv file, you can then calculate the total amount spent by the customer during the specified time frame.
Please let us know if you have any other questions!
Hello Mochanutcoffee,
From experience, when you can't find the info you need from Square's canned reports one has to take a different approach. Often when we want specific data, we use the Report Export feature which downloads info to a CSV file and then use Excel to manage the data. Yep, it is extra time but, you can get exactly what you're looking for. The export feature often provides additional fields which the canned reports don't. What I can't tell you is which report or reports you need to export for your needs. For example, you can export the Transactions Report on a specific date range, there's more fields there than the canned report and it does show how much each customer spent. That may give you some ideas.
Unfortunately, breaking down a customers spending and purchase history is definetly an area that Square needs to do more work. There isn't a way that I know of that you can get that info nicely from a Square report, unless you downloaded all your transactions from a time period and then sorted by customer.
I have been saying this for years. They have the basis of this built out already under the customers section. I had to point out to them years ago that when I go to dashboard, customers, and apply filters for transactions between X and X, that the total spend isn't correct but it still shows their lifetime spend. I feel like this could be a pretty easy fix.
