World Book Day,* April 23, 2023, is an international event to promote reading, the book publishing industry, and copyright.
Page turners: recommended by the Community team
We asked members of the Community team to share one of their favorite business books. Have you read any of these yet? Let us know!
@Helen, Square Community Manager:
Mindset: The New Psychology of Success by Carol S. Dweck
“A practical guide to understanding your mindset and how to use it to reach your goals. There’s a section for business too!”
@LeahK, Global Community Engagement Lead:
Outgrow Your Space At Work by Rick Whitted
“The advice shared in this book is something I wish I had 10+ years ago. Early on in my career, I was the gal who was constantly looking for my next opportunity and was never satisfied with where I was. Through lots of failures, I finally figured out that in order to succeed I had to redefine what success looks like and focus on doing extraordinary things in my current role(s). Today, my whole approach toward career progression and job satisfaction is very much aligned with what’s summarized in this book.”
@Pesso, Square Small Business Evangelist:
The 4-Hour Work Week by Timothy Ferriss
“It definitely doesn’t work for every business, or even actually get you down to just four hours, but this book started my kick of looking for ways to automate and simplify my work life, trust others where I can, and let go of some control over my small businesses.”
@Hailey Seller Community Marketing Manager:
3HAG Way by Shannon Byrne Susko
“A prescriptive framework that takes the guessing out of your strategy and ensures that you and your whole team are confident in where you are going. It breaks your strategy down into a clear and simple picture, allowing you to see where your company is going and where it will end up in three years’ time.”

What is the title of your autobiography?
If you could write a book about your business journey or your life, what would the title of the book be? Many autobiographies follow the same format. Here are a couple of real-life examples:
- “Creativity, Inc.: Overcoming the Unseen Forces That Stand in the Way of True Inspiration” by Ed Catmull
- “What I Know About Running Coffee Shops” by Colin Harmon
📕 Share the title of your would-be autobiography below!
*Some readers may note that World Book Day is celebrated in March in the UK and Ireland. I haven’t found much about why this is the case, but I’m OK with celebrating books twice a year, if not more!
