Hi there, I do a lot of traveling to vend at in person events, is there a way to put an announcement on my website to inform customers that orders received while I am away, will be shipped when I return?
Thank you

Hi Jenny,
I would suggest using a pop-up on your website that the customer has to close so they read it. But you could also use the banner across the top of your site to let them know.

I feel like Square is constantly surprising us with features like that. I don't ever remember seeing pop-ups before!

Hey @GeekInStitches - just wanted to point out a couple places within the Community that you might find helpful (if you didn't already know about them)
First is the product update board. Our product teams don't always create posts for EVERY update, but we do see many and especially larger ones. If you read any that are helpful, please make sure to comment and let us know so that we can show our product teams how useful these are for our Community members!
Second, there is the Square Online Community where you can chat all things Square Online.
Hope you find these spaces helpful!

The problem with this feature is that it will only show about 3 short lines of text (around 7 words per line). This is less than sentences and I can't get me message short enough to fit without being clipped.
The pop-up window clearly shows the ability to resize in real-time when you add text, but for some reason it stops expanding after 3 lines. This is really frustrating and Square Online support refuses to acknowledge it as a bug.

I keep my event schedule and news in a section on my main page at the top.

Hi
Have you thought about putting a section on your home page with the title Find Us At.
A small paragraph underneath saying you will be unable to fill online orders between these dates, but you can find us at these events/fairs and then a list in date order of the events you will be at and the dates you will be there.

For important notices, I think it's important to just communicate that message directly to every visitor, without relying on them to navigate to a specific section of the site.
It's just frustrating to hit a false constraint like this. There is enough "room" on page to display an extremely long message, since it's a pop-up and doesn't have to fit into existing structure. The pop-up window already has the ability to auto-resize, it just doesn't work correctly. Sometimes making the font smaller ends up fitting less visible text, because it causes the window to resize smaller.
This is just bad coding and could be easily resolved if Square support would acknowledge the bug and send to their software team. the support staff instead act like a wall between customers and the software team.

Hi @Apex86,
Thanks for joining the conversation on this, and for highlighting your concern.
I can see why it would be frustrating that the pop-up box does allow additional characters to be added to the text box, however these are then cropped out on the live site.
I wouldn't be able to comment on the complexity of adjusting the pop-up parameters, but I will most certainly bring these observations across to the product team for consideration.
I’ll come back to this thread once I have a response from the Square Online team.

Thank you. I really hope they listen to you. Support has told me multiple times to "paraphrase my message". They don't understand that some messages can't be shortened to 2 sentences!
This seems like a simple ask, and I'm hopeful that if the request actually makes it to the developers, they will happily implement it.
